Sparc Technologies (ASX: SPN)成立了石墨烯生物医学传感器部门,为人类和动物建立非侵入性疾病传感设备。
Ben Yerbury已经加入Sparc,并将在公司的基石股东和战略合作伙伴University of Adelaide的支持下领导该部门。

他将领导一个项目,专注于开发基于石墨烯的传感设备,该设备将能够检测呼出气体中的挥发性有机化合物(VOCs)。
根据Sparc的说法,挥发性有机化合物可以作为疾病的指标。
该公司对该设备的策略是将它们与现有的诊断工具或其他便携式电子设备(如智能手机)集成,从而实现实时和便携式疾病检测。
Sparc的执行主席Stephen Hunt说,Yerbury先生的重要经验将指导Sparc开发非侵入性疾病检测设备。
“Yerbury先生加入我们的时机很好,他将与University of Adelaide密切合作,University of Adelaide已经在医用生物传感器方面进行了重要的背景研究,”Hunt先生补充道。

石墨烯独特的大表面积和物理化学性质意味着它可以检测微量的挥发性有机化合物。

Sparc声称,该设备可能在疾病的早期检测和管理方面产生“深远的”全球影响——尤其是由病毒、细菌和真菌引起的传染性获得性疾病。
据信,该设备还将有助于检测包括癌症在内的先天性或肿瘤疾病。
